Anniversary

Recently I celebrated my one year smoke free anniversary! It was and continues to be quit a journey. First of all I never thought I would be able to do it but, with the drug Chantix I DID IT !!! Along the way I have encountered anxiety, depression, weight gain and hypertension. I am happy to say I overcame all of them except the weight gain and I am still struggling with that. I will continue to work on that and we will see where I am at two years. In honor of my anniversary and the fact that I have been blogging regularly I would like to send out a RAK of some cool scrap booking stuff sooo, give me some comments and I will randomly select one.
Can't wait to here from you!

Books

I personally love books and could spend all day in a book store! So it pleases me to no end when the kids show an interest in books. I took this picture of Sarah one day while I had been scrapping, I turned and noticed she had her foot propped up on the table leaned back and totally absorbed in her books. My camera was at my side so I clicked the picture before she new what I was up to! Gotta love it!

Fun with cards

It's that time of year when I start going through my stash and try to use up as many scraps as I can. I use most of them to make cards and allow myself to play and experiment with new techniques. It is very freeing and fun and from time to time I stumble on to something cool. This card has a lot going for it but doesn't look over done to me. It has popped up items on the scallop, stickles, stamping, beads and my latest obsession sewing. The Janome sewing machine is the greatest! It is not for skilled seamstress' mind you, strictly paper and small craft projects. It is small and light weight, not so cumbersome you will never get it out of the closet. It does two types of stitches in different sizes. The cost is around $100.00 but watch for sales at Jo Ann's for half price. I just love to hear the wurrr of that little machine!

Good Times

More beads today! I took a flat cap and filled it with crystal lacquer and sprinkled beads in it. Let it dry for a couple of hours then used it as the center of my flower. Love all the textures in this one, burlap, paper flower and beads.
Let me know if you try this beading technique and how it worked out for you.

Loving the Beads

Currently I am in love with using beads and seed beads to make embellishments. For the heart I started with heart shaped chip-board, placed it on a piece of wax paper in my powder pal on a flat surface. Next I coated the heart with crystal lacquer. Now the fun part, choose your beads and just sprinkle them on the heart. In this one I also used a rhinestone. Once you are satisfied with the look just set it aside for a few hours to dry. So fun to do and no two piece will be alike. The Paper Crafting Fair is on QVC today. Go take a look!

Crop - a - Palooza a Big Success

We had a great time! We literally shopped and cropped until we dropped! LOL Valery was my roomie, Annette was my twin with a sweater just like mine, Jeris was my go to person when I needed something I didn't have, Aleta and Jenny provided much comic relief. We met many new friends including Aleta's sister, Oma and Jenny's friend Ellen. I won first prize in a altered art contest! Woo Hoo! I alerted a place mat into Halloween refrigerator art. Janet from 'Pictures in Time' better know as the 'Pit Stop' presented me with my winnings. I came home with the Janome mini sewing machine which I am absolutely loving. We all agreed we had a great time and would go back next year.

P.S. Someday I will remember to load the pictures backwards :-(

Today's the Day!

Yipeee! Heading out this morning for crop-a-palooza and a weekend of shopping! The car is packed and I am ready to hit the road. I have several projects underway that I will have ready to post next week. While I'm out croppin and shoppin my husband has a weekend of paint ball planned. That is one sport I don't get! He comes home with all kinds of whelps from where he has been hit, guess he just likes telling the war stories! LOL See ya next week!

One day to go

Just one more day before we leave for Crop-a-Palooza! Yipee! Now if I can just narrow down what to take? I don't want to take everything, trying to keep it to the projects I am going to work on. Yeah right, what am I going to work on? Can't seem to concentrate. Every time I pull out something to take, I start playing around with it and now I have a huge mess and nothing packed. Oh well, let me leave you with one of my garden pictures.

Stamp Club Day

Stamp club Day is always a good day! Getting together with my buds, doin' a project and getting the stuff I ordered last month what more could ya ask for? I love this card for several reasons. I designed it to serve several purposes, first of all it is a greeting card, add a couple of magnets and it is refrigerator art or it can be framed for home decor. I love all my projects to have multiple textures and dimensions add some rockin' colors and I'm a happy girl!

How fun is this?

How fun is this that the famous Donna Downey is coming to my favorite SB store, Beach Scrapbooks, in October! Check them out over in my side bar. I just love the projects she is going to be doing! Now if I can just figure out a way to get up there for this event???? Going to crunch some numbers and see if I can make this happen!

A Cozy Place of Mine

The days are getting shorter and a few leaves are starting to fall. It is a bittersweet time of year for me. I love to work in the garden, work up a sweat and take a swim with the kids. That time is coming to a close for this year. Cool evenings, changing leaves, fall festivals and visits to the mountains are on the horizan and I am looking forward to this as well.

Robots

I just love me some robots these days. hehe Cosmo Cricket has the cutest line of paper with cogs, sprockets and robots. I decided to put together my own robot with spare parts laying around my desk. There are eyeballs, chipboard, several different brads, negative frame, Popsicle sticks, soda pop tops, wire, paint and stickles. This two guys just pop of the page with cuteness!

Big Bertha

Recently Maggie Beth got to ride Big Bertha for the first time on Lake Lanier. I wasn't sure whether she would like it or not. I am so glad they gave her a chance because she absolutely loved it! Of course, her Daddy was right by her side.

Scrappy Toes!

What in the world you may say? What is up with the scrappy toes? Well it is all about getting ready to go to a scrap pink event for breast cancer next week. Most of you scrapping people know, we take it to extremes and this is my way of getting crazy with it. LOL In previous scrap-booking adventures I have seen scrappy clothes, hair and luggage. So folks you saw it here first Scrappy Toes!

From the Desk of Maggie Beth

Maggie Beth would like to announce that she is going to be a BIG Sister! She is so excited about all of her sisterly duties although, she has made it clear that diaper duty is one thing she will let Mom and Dad handle. The new arrival is expected late March or early April. We should know by the end of October whether we will be getting a brother or sister.

Sweet Memories

This is my sweet Grand - daughter Sarah Beth. She is a tiny little thing and the youngest of three siblings. She has been our little butterfly girl since she was born. She flutters everywhere, lighting for a few seconds then moving on. This cute little butterfly from Marcella of K and Company just suits her personality.

Back to school

Tuesday it was back to school, well, for all those who were not sick that is. Seems Sarah and Sean had a bout with strep throat and couldn't go. It was up in the air as to whether Scott would get on the bus and go to school without his big brother. Well, it didn't phase him one bit, he was the star of the day and would have lots of stories to tell his brother and sister when he got home! Tommorrow I will be cookin' up a big batch of chilli for football - the Big Dog is comin' out to Play!
